Air Source Heat Pump at Merton Village Hall

In 2008 the Village Hall Committee started raising funds to completely refurbish their village hall. In January 2011 H & R SERVICES (OXFORD) LTD installed an 14kw Air Source Heat Pump, new radiators throughout and full sensors and controls.

"Before the refurbishment the hall was in a really poor state of repair and bookings had fallen. The main room was heated with storage heaters which meant we had to set the heating before each booking and the heaters were often left on, which led to extremely high electricity bills. In the footballers changing rooms there was no heating at all and their showers only worked intermittently.

There had also been two burst pipes as the hall was not heated during the winter due to the expense of using the storage heaters. Our main priorities with the refurbishment were that the hall was more functional and less expensive! Nick from H & R SERVICES (OXFORD) LTD recommended an Air Source Heat Pump because they are very efficient and can be easily controlled. The Heat Pump provides heating and hot water for the main hall and the changing rooms including 500 litres of hot water for the footballers showers.

The hall remains at a constant 12ºC so we don't have to worry about burst pipes when the hall isn't occupied and the heating can be adjusted at the touch of a button by anyone hiring the hall. Since the hall has been refurbished we have had loads more bookings and as all our electricity at the hall is provided by "Good Energy"we are proud to be one of the few carbon neutral village halls in the county. The village hall is no longer a white elephant and is now a real asset to community"
